About Us

Academic L and C is dedicated to developing and facilitating powerful learning and communication, based on respectful and open interaction with the people we learn and communicate with. We offer evidence-based resources, consultations, workshops and presentations which focus on: student transition to university; cultural communication particularly between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples; academic skills and English expression.
Currently based in Perth and Melbourne, Australia – with national and global reach.

Dr Andrea Dodo-Balu- Founder and director
An expert in communication and Higher Education, Andrea combines her research knowledge with extensive experience in university level teaching and learning and involvement in professional societies.
Andrea holds a Doctorate in Higher Education and a Master of Education in language teaching and international education.

Centre for Academic Learning and Communication Publishing produces resources relating to successful student transition and achievement in tertiary level study. Overall well-being is an important aspect of student success – we also produce titles focusing on motivation and personal growth under the imprint Ann Sagi.

'Talking About Higher Education in English': Five Week Online Workshop Series

Bringing people together as non-native speakers of English to engage with higher education topics and enhance academic communication skills!

A five week series of workshops - one workshop per week starting on Wednesday January 15, 2025. $250 AUD covers the full five weeks.

Jan 15, Jan 22, Jan 29, Feb 5, & Feb 12 - 75 minute sessions - (8-9:15pm Melbourne time (AEDT), 6-7:15pm Tokyo time, 5-6:15pm Taipei, Beijing, Singapore time)
